The Workforce Planning team has developed a scheme to train a group of care managers from a range of organisations to mentor each other.
The scheme is designed to:
- get care managers to support each other and lessen feelings of isolation
- give care managers 'time out' to discuss recurring issues and put together action plans to overcome these
- support care managers to make and measure changes for the benefit of their organisation and service users.
The 2010 pilot was a success, with 100% of respondents stating that they had already achieved some of their goals and all planned to continue their mentoring relationship. Read some case studies to find out about their experiences.
As a result, a new group of mentors has been trained in January 2011, and 5 new mentoring pairs have been created.
If you would like to set up a mentoring scheme in your organisation or your local area, you are welcome to download the following materials to guide you.
